Our old friends know this name very well … Welcome back!

For those who are new here, this blog was originally started in July 2009. The blog was an instant hit attracting regular visitors not just from Pakistan (or other Pakistani cricket fans worldwide) but also the followers of this beautiful game from other cricket playing nations. Within a year, it grew into a complete cricket portal (under the name of PakCamp) but remained focused on Pakistan cricket. Then came the spot-fixing scandal and in disgust and protest, we shut this site down. That temporary closure kind of dragged on but that’s history …

Even though we were off-line, we never stopped receiving your emails and comments regularly. So “aap sebb key bharpoor israar perr“ with your consistent support (and constant nagging), we are very happy to be back live (with a new design of course) and what better timing than the start of this new year and the iconic England series being played out in the UAE.

Pakistan has won the first Test in a dramatic fashion in under three days and there’s a lot to talk about, and with the second Test just a couple of days away, I will get straight to that shortly.

All old articles from our version 1 and also from the days of PakCamp will be available under Archive categories shortly (a few have already been posted). For now, I am leaving you with the original post below that welcomed you all three years ago …

Welcome to Well Fielded!

Well Fielded – Not the term you hear often, especially when Pakistan takes the field …

This blog is dedicated to fielding views you won’t often hear elsewhere. This is the voice of the fans that encourage intellectual debates by the followers of this beautiful game and is run and managed by the fans themselves. If you consider yourself one, here is how you can join in the discussion:

  • Comments: Anyone is welcome to post in any of the discussion threads. Your comments will need to be approved by a moderator before being posted, so make sure you don’t use profanity and keep them relevant to the original post or the ongoing discussion.
  • Trackback: If you have a blog or site of your own, or are a member of another forum, pls. feel free to link any of the posts from here as long as you give appropriate references and link it back to us here using the Trackback option.
  • Super User: The more active you are on this site, the more privileges you will get in terms of posting your comments without moderation, being able to moderate others, and to even start new discussion threads etc.
  • Power Blogger: We are always looking for new co-editors and contributors to take responsibility of various sections and categories of this blog that’ll help us grow. Please contact us via email to discuss any ideas that you may have and let’s discuss how you can participate.

We hope you like the editorials here and find the discussions engaging. Field your own views and create your own following … where others will not only cherish your views but also perhaps say, well fielded!

    Welcome back guys.
You couldn’t have chosen a better time to come.
These are exciting times for Pakistan cricket and your blog will only benefit from these positive results.
    Wish you all the best.

    Sathish.

With the new form the team has been showing, slow and gradual, it is the perfect time to make a comeback. A comeback Shahid Afridi will be proud of (with the number of comebacks he has announced in his career to date!).

Pakistan’s form has been slow but the steady rise has been something to note. Whilst the current series is underway, with 3 consecutive series wins against South Africa, Sri Lanka and a weaker side in Bangladesh, beating the number one test team in the world would be a great achievement.

Personally, I would like to take a moment and give credit to Mohsin Khan. As a kid, I admired his batting skills more than his acting skills. I still have very clear and fond memories of his 200 at Lords in 1982. Since he took over as coach he really has made some positive improvements and an impact. Obviously a major shout out is due to Misbah as well but i think the two have worked well together and whoever is appointed Pakistan’s coach, I hope Mohsin has a role to play going forward in Pak cricket.

Look forward to reading the blogs going forward and time for some old friends to link up!

  5. AG says:

What do you mean looking forward to ‘reading’ … you better be writing a few pieces a week too!!

  6. AG says:

Welcome back Sathish … good to see our friends across the border haven’t forgotten us either.

Look forward to your comments, they were always constructive and never childish.

  7. Shahid says:

Ahmad how do you get this logo with your name? First I thought it was just you as administrator but I have seen Andrew has his picture on the comment on other article as well?

  8. AG says:

A quick change from the last version of the Blog … Your comments won’t need to wait for moderation now once you are pre-approved. So only first comment will wait in a queue for a while (till I get around to seeing it) before appearing but after that is approved, from your second one on your comments will appear instantly …

    Enjoy the discussions!

Cam, I was chatting to a few aussies earlier in the week and they were adamant that Ricky needs to go and new talent groomed. I guess he has proved them all wrong! A quality act!
